Did you know that Ash Wednesday (and Easter) is extra early in 2008? Ash Wednesday is February 6, 2008. Easter is March 23, 2008. I have the times for Ash Wednesday Mass at Brentwood's Catholic churches, Holy Family and St. Matthew, as well as links to other Brentwood churches which may observe Lent.

Where is the best place in Nashville to take a family Christmas photo? You may be surprised to find that it's NOT the Opryland Hotel! The Opryland Hotel has all kinds of fun, free things to do for Christmas in the Nashville area -- but its dark conservatories and artificial lighting make picture taking hard. Never been to the Christmas light display at Opryland Hotel, here's what it's like.

Are you looking for a cut-your-own Christmas tree farm in the Nashville area? The Pick TN Products website has a great directory with lists of local tree farms and stands, including those close to Nashville in Pleasant View, College Grove, Gallatin, Murfreesboro and Lebanon. Locally grown Christmas trees are better for the environment because they prevent erosion in rocky TN soil and reduces transportation costs.

TWRA will stock the Harpeth River with trout again this year after last year's phenomenal success. We have the dates for stocking the Harpeth River in December, January, February and March--along with information about where to park and where to wade. We also have photos and information about winter stocking at Marrowbone Lake and a list of all the TWRA winter stocking locations and dates for the 2007-2008 calendar.

Looking for a Nashville theme Christmas tree? After touring Brentwood's lovely Christmas decorations, I have an original list of Nashville-related ornaments and theme ideas, from the Music City country music inspired tree... to an equestrian theme that draws from Nashville's pastoral farms and history... to a local landmark tree that includes art postcards and souvenirs from favorite restaurants. Hope you enjoy this virtual Christmas tour of Nashville ideas!

Visit the Brentwood Library for free fun holiday events! Have your children's photos taken with Santa Claus in the gazebo, enjoy a magic show and refreshments on Saturday, December 1. Then return on Monday, December 3 for the City of Brentwood's Christmas Tree Lighting and music from the Ravenwood High School Chorus.

Tucked behind a Native American village mound lies one of Brentwood's oldest structures. The Boiling Springs Academy on Moores Lane East was donated by the Primm family when the Montclair subdivision was built. Now restored, this 1833 schoolhouse is the centerpiece of Primm Park (also the entrance to Brentwood's bikeway).
