For my family’s first fall in Brentwood, TN, I’ve been researching all the best Halloween activities.
Here are some fun things to do for Halloween in Middle Tennessee:
- Halloween costume shops near Nashville
- Gentry’s Farm and other nearby pumpkin patches & corn mazes
- Haunted houses in the Nashville area
- Halloween events in Williamson County
- Trunk-or-treat events held by Brentwood area churches
Following are the things that my family and I are planning to do this Halloween:
#1 – Find fun Halloween decorations.
My family enjoys decorating the house for Halloween with these creepy critters.
Big Lots has them in stock – and it’s only August!
Big Lots stores are located in Franklin at Hwy. 96 near I-65 and in south Nashville on Nolensville Road.
Psst… all of the Halloween decorations seen on this page are from Big Lots!
#2 – Visit a real graveyard in Williamson County.
Carnton Plantation is a historic Franklin estate with the largest Civil War cemetery around.
Carnton also hosts an eerie Haunted Halloween event each year. Expect ghost stories in the plantation home and graveside, along with a 19th century magic show.
Want go on walking tours at night and hear some interesting stories about haunted buildings in the area? Check out these haunted walking tours in Franklin & Nashville.
#3 – Spend an afternoon at Gentry’s Farm in Franklin.
At Gentry’s Farm, kids can:
- Pick their own pumpkins
- Go on a real hay ride
- Have their photos taken in a field of sunflowers
- Enjoy lots of other fun fall activities
#4 – Attend a Halloween party or two.
Looking for a really big Halloween bash this year?
Start here:
- Nashville festivals with a Fall or Halloween theme
- Nashville Halloween parties taking place this year
- Family-friendly Halloween events in Nashville
#5 – Find Nashville’s scariest (or funniest) Halloween costume.
For starters, check out this list of the best costume shops in Nashville. There you’ll find all our favorites, including Performance Costume Rentals downtown and other local vintage clothing shops.
If you need an authentic costume but don’t want to brave Party City this October, then consider buying a real chef’s uniform from GFS Marketplace. It’s a restaurant supply store in Cool Springs.
So that’s what we’ve got planned for Halloween this year!
