Someone gave us this delicious pie from Merridee’s Breadbasket in Franklin.

Quite frankly, it’s the best peach pie I’ve ever tasted!

That got me thinking about the best bakeries near Brentwood.

Here are our picks:

We all know the Puffy Muffin.

RIGHT?!?

Brentwood’s signature lunch spot is also the best place to pick up pastries, muffins, or a fancy celebration cake.

I do think their blueberry muffins are the best I’ve had, and I love the catering packages, too. However, their European style chocolate pastries are always a little too chocolate-y for me.

Merridee’s Breadbasket is located on the square in Franklin, Tennessee.

The peach pie alone gives it a place on our favorite bakery list — I’ve never had one with such a flaky thick crust and fresh, tangy peaches.  Divine!

But don’t take my word for it:  Road Food’s Jane and Michael Stern give it a hearty thumbs-up, especially for its homebaked white bread with pimento cheese.  (So you know I’m biased there!)

Since I’m always on the lookout for Brentwood caterers, I was thrilled to see that Merridee’s Breadbasket offers free delivery with box lunch orders of 20 or more.

Cuppycakes Bakery in Spring Hill:

I was lucky enough to try a chocolate cupcake from this home-based business on the edge of Williamson County.

and….

it was every bit as delicious as local food bloggers proclaimed!

Until this one, I’m not sure I’ve ever had a cupcake in which the frosting and cake were equally good.

For now, the sweet cupcakes and chocolates from this mother-daughter duo are available only by delivery.

I’m guessing it won’t be long before we’ll be licking our icing-smudged fingers in a retai location near Brentwood or Franklin.

At least, I hope so!
