As a native Tennessean, I’m ashamed to admit this…
I have toured Elvis’ Graceland, but NOT Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage.
Now I have no excuse! Admission to the Hermitage will be free this September 29th as part of The Smithsonian’s national Free Museum Day .
Here’s how you can get free admission.
First, CHOOSE A MUSEUM:
Click on your state to find out which museums are participating in the national September 29th celebration.
Tennessee’s participating free museums:
- Historic Mansker’s Station (Goodlettsville)
- Tennessee State Museum (Nashville)
- The Hermitage, Home of President Andrew Jackson (Nashville)
- American Museum of Science and Energy (Oak Ridge)
- Dixon Gallery and Gardens (Memphis)
I may not have toured the Hermitage, but I have visited almost all the sites on this list. From Memphis to Oak Ridge, there’s a lot to learn in Tennessee!
Suggested Strategy:
You may wish to save the Tennessee State Museum or UT’s McClung Museum for later. Both remain free year round.
Middle Tennesseans will get the most value at the Hermitage, where adult admission costs $15.
PRINT YOUR FREE MUSEUM ADMISSION CARD:
Print your free museum admission card before leaving home! Your card will be good for you and one guest.
See you at the Hermitage on Free Museum Day!
