I met some friends at Mexicali Grill off Carothers Pkwy. in Franklin.

Is it just me, or does Cool Springs seem to add another layer of commerce every time I visit?

After I discovered the whole new slice of restaurants and businesses between Moore’s Lane and Cool Springs Blvd, I found a fun new place to take my family.

Let me tell you about the Mexicali Grill near Brentwood.

My friend takes her 4 boys to eat at the Mexicali Grill because it is so loud.

“You don’t have to worry about your kids bothering anyone!”

Score one for family-friendly dining!

What did you say? Mexicali Grill is loud?

That would be due to the fun cover band blasting away in the corner. Not Mexican music, mind you, but some peppy mix of Beetles cover tunes and similar songs from the ’60s.

We asked to be seated in the far room so we could hear one another better.

Our table of 8 had little to no wait at 6:30 pm, but the restaurant was full–both with young families and young executives there for a straight-from-work margarita.

We ordered everything from the vegetarian plate to a massive platter of sizzling fajitas. Prices averaged about $9 per plate.

The food wasn’t out of the ordinary, but our service was superb. That, plus the upbeat music, made for a very fun evening out!
