chef-hat-costume.jpgAre you looking for an authentic chef costume for Halloween?

Maybe you just want to impress the guests at your next dinner party!

Either way, you can buy chef's hats, coats, checked pants and aprons at the new Gordon Food Service Marketplace in Cool Springs.

New GFS Market In Cool Springs

gfs-market-coolsprings.jpgI stopped by the grand opening of GFS Marketplace in Cool Springs. One of two restaurant-supply stores in the Nashville area, GFS Marketplace is located across from Costco on Seaboard Lane.

A restaurant supply store near Brentwood that doesn't require membership?

Hurray!

On a scenic drive through Brentwood, I discovered a quaint little gas station in the area between Brentwood and Franklin.

After reading the 100 Mile Diet, I've been paying more attention to local Tennessee products. A friend and Nashville foodie mentioned the Hatcher Family Dairy in Williamson County.

We finally investigated that tall, brick building on Moores Lane. It's the historic Boiling Springs Academy in Brentwood's Primm Park.

We were thrilled to go inside this historic landmark!

Here's a virtual tour of the 1832 schoolhouse after its recent restoration.

historic-outhouse-tennessee.jpgWe stopped at Brentwood's Primm Park last week.

I wanted to show my brother the Boiling Springs Academy, circa 1833.

He snapped a photo of the "historic" Tennessee outhouse just behind it.

Want to know the secret behind its crescent-moon-carved door?

Brentwood Day Trip: Beech Bend Park

old-fashioned-amusement-park.jpgWhat can I say? Advertising works!
My five-year-old has been asking us to take him to Beech Bend Park and Splash Lagoon in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Turns out, Beech Bend is the closest amusement park to Middle Tennessee.

After our weekend trip, we think Beech Bend Park is worth the hour-long drive from Brentwood.
