Things to do with your Dog
If you're like most other dog-lovers, you probably feel guilty about not doing enough with them. You know that Fido wants to go out and have fun, but other than a walk at the park or a trip to the lake, what is there to do? Here is some help:
The Nashville Humane Association has two events the next two weekends that will provide you with an opportunity to take your dog out with you. This is a chance to bond with your pooch, while contributing to a great cause!
- The first event is the 16th Annual Dog Day, planned for Sunday October 1st. The event is held at Centennial Park and kicks off with the Mutt Strutt walk at 9:00. A full day of fun, food, and entertainment - plus you're almost guaranteed that your best friend will settle in for a nice long nap when you return home. What more could you ask for? Visit www.nashvillehumane.org for more information on this event.
- On Sunday, October 9th you can go to Opry Mills for Howl-O-Ween 2005. This is a contest for the best dressed dog (in three classes, based on size) with the prize being a $100 gift certificate. Not a bad prize considering Christmas shopping is right around the corner. For me the fun with this one would be to see how creative and outrageous the other dog's costumes are, since my dog wouldn't sit for me putting a costume on him. I actually tried this a few years ago with a pumpkin costume - a complete waste of $10.
After my original post, I found that Elan Salon in Green Hills is sponsoring The Mane Event on Sunday, October 23. This event also benefits the Nashville Humane Association. You can pamper yourself and have a portrait taken with your pet. Call Elan at 615-269-0222 for more information.
